Dr. Brian Walsh

Dr. Brian Walsh

DVM/Medical Director

Dr. Brian Walsh is our Medical Director and a veterinary jack-of-all-trades. He enjoys the variety that veterinary medicine offers, where he can treat dogs, cats, birds, tortoises, lizards, and the occasional marine mammal. His varied interests in surgery, internal medicine, oncology, and exotics allow him to provide the excellent care that his patients need and their owners appreciate.

Dr. Walsh and his wife, Sunny, moved to Hawaii after he completed veterinary school and have made it their permanent home. They live with an ever-growing group that includes their cats, dogs, and pet tortoise. He enjoys his weekly volleyball matches, hiking with friends and family, snorkeling, and taking friends sailing out on the Bay.

Dr. Gianna Masca

DVM/Hospital Director

Raised in Kaneohe, Dr. Gianna Masca has always loved animals and always knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. Growing up with numerous pets, she understands how animals enrich and enhance our lives. As Hospital Director, Dr. Masca is able to promote our hospital’s philosophy of excellent care and service in order to promote the human-animal bond.

Dr. Masca and her husband, Roger, are thankful and feel blessed to be able to enjoy life in Hawaii with their 2 daughters and various furry family members.

Dr. Gianna Masca
Dr. Mina Khoii

Dr. Mina Khoii

DVM/Emergency Veterinarian

​Dr. Mina Khoii received her undergraduate degree in biology from Earlham College. She graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Her primary interests include emergency and critical care, internal medicine, and soft tissue surgery.

Dr. Chris Wyckoff

DVM/Emergency Veterinarian

Born and raised in Southern California, Dr. Chris Wyckoff always enjoyed being around animals and grew up having a wide array of pets. After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Wyckoff jumped at the opportunity to move to Hawaii and hasn’t looked back. He joined us at Feather & Fur Animal Hospital in 2014 where his care and attention to detail has been as asset to our hospital.

Dr. Wyckoff loves hiking with his dog, scuba diving, snorkeling and generally enjoying Hawaii’s environment. He’s also proud of his one-eyed rescue cat named Quinn.

Dr. Jamee Black

DVM/Emergency Veterinarian

​Raised in rural Michigan, Dr. Black has had a love of all types of animals since childhood. Her professional interests are in emergency medicine, critical care, and emergency surgery. She loves the variety that veterinary medicine has to offer. Her biggest reward is seeing very sick or injured animals recover.

After providing emergency care in California, Arizona, and Virginia, she moved to Hawaii and has called the islands home for over a decade. Her husband and their four children enjoy the outdoors, on land and in the water. Their family includes a high energy dog, a low energy tortoise and fish.

Dr. Stacie Nakashima

DVM/Associate Veterinarian

While growing up in Kailua, Dr. Stacie Nakashima spent many years working at Feather & Fur Animal Hospital as a veterinary assistant before pursing her veterinary degree away from home.

With an understanding and patient nature, Dr. Nakashima works closely with owners to improve the health of their pets and to strengthen the human-animal bond.

After working for several years in Alabama and Texas, Dr. Nakashima returned home to Hawaii in 2016 where she can spend time with her horses, Beau and Sky.

Dr. Suzanne Pluskat

​DVM/ Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Suzanne Pluskat was raised in Southern California and always remembers having rabbits as pets. In veterinary school, she studied emergency medicine, exotic and wildlife medicine and worked in the Exotic Animal Department.

She worked in Southern California for 10 years then moved to Hawaii to pursue her dream of working on Midway Atoll doing wildlife conservation. She raised Laysan ducks on Midway and then Black footed albatross, Bonin petrel, and Tristram storm petrels on James Campbell for 2 years. She now continues all of her passions here. She is Fear Free certified for cats, dogs, and birds. Her professional interests include avian and exotic, wildlife, and fish medicine. At home, Dr. Pluskat enjoys her parakeets, button quails (@thequaillifechoseme), and her pigeon.

Dr. Robyn Cates

DVM/Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Robyn Cates moved to Oahu in 2021 from Oregon, where she attended veterinary school at Oregon State University. She lives in Kaneohe with her partner and three fish tanks.

Her professional interests are in preventative care and wellness, including dermatology, nutrition, and dental care. She very much enjoys educating clients about how to keep their pets healthy.

Her hobbies include scuba diving, paddleboarding, hiking, and traveling.

Dr. Cherish Frates

Dr. Cherish Frates

​DVM/Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Cherish Frates grew up in the mainland, but she is pleased to have called Hawaii home the longest. She worked on a horse farm in Virginia for a few years before obtaining her BS in Biology from UH – Manoa. She left Hawaii to attend vet school in New York, but quickly realized that Hawaii was home. She is passionate about surgery and enjoys the opportunity to help animals and their families with their veterinary needs.

She enjoys working with animals of all shapes and sizes. In her free time, she enjoys the blue water and amazing hiking of Oahu with her husband and three kids, as well as her two dogs, five cats, three birds, and 50+ fish.

Dr. Nate Ferguson

​BVMS/Emergency Veterinarian

Dr. Nate started out as veterinary assistant in Cumbernauld, Scotland, where he assisted in the care of a variety of cats, dogs and exotic pets. Deciding to pursue a career as a veterinarian, he got his degree from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. After graduation, Dr. Nate spent his first year in Alaska, where he worked with small animals and exotic pets as a general practitioner. He then transitioned to emergency medicine and spent the next stage of his career practicing in Australia and New Zealand, working overnights and seeing an eclectic mix of pets and wildlife, from cats to kangaroos. He made the move to Oahu in 2024 to join our overnight emergency team.

Outside of work, Dr. Nate enjoys the great outdoors; hiking, camping, and rock climbing.
